Working as a team –
- The Pipeline – Mini adventure challenge group task where groups need to work together to achieve a common goal.

Mathematics component
The Grade 5 Exhibition is required to have a mathematics component. The most obvious connection is through data collection and presentation. Below are a series of lessons to about displaying the data that the students have collected through interviews and surveys in a creative and eye catching way called, infographics.
- An Introduction to Infographics (1 period) – An introduction to the elements and formats of infographics with some professional examples to analyse.
- Creating your own Infographic (1-2 periods) – Students use a collection of data to create their own infographic. (Great website to help.)
Writing e-mails to an organization, your mentor, your teacher…
- How to write an e-mail to an organization – Takes up to 2 lessons, depending on your class. There is a section at the end which can be used as an intro to the next post (see below)
- How to respond to an e-mail – takes about 2 lessons. 1st lesson -The teacher should conduct a discussion about all of the points outlined in the post. The 2nd lesson should include the class writing an initial e-mail each to the pretend organization OACT (Organization Against Cruelty to Teachers), asking for information. (See post above – How to write an e-mail to an organization). The teacher should respond to these (using a template standard answer that includes asking the students a question, and also giving them some information), so that the students have to reply to the e-mail.
