Research skills – plan – From the Transdisciplinary skills

 

 

 

Formulating questions:

Lesson 1 –  Identifying something one wants or needs to know (40-60 mins, depending on how long you give for the activity). The class discussion that this activity prompts is the important part of this lesson.

Lesson 2 (part 1) – Different types of questions linked to the PYP concepts (30 – 40 mins)

Lesson 2 (part 2) – KWHL chart practice (40 – 60 mins) – Lion

Lesson 2 (part 3) – independent practice for planning research, and practice finding someone/people who have similar questions to each other. (40 mins? Up to you really) – Chocolate

 

Planning

Lesson 3 – Research chocolate! Let the kids do their own research, and let them record it any way they want.This can also be used as home learning. (40 -mins +… up to you how long it lasts. It’s actually a great activity to set the kids off on, so you can do things ike DRA’s etc…) It has a reflection activity at the end which can either be done as a post or any other format.

Lesson 4 – Group planning – Developing a course of action; writing an outline; devising ways of finding out necessary information (40 mins)
