- Historical Narrative analysis – pulling apart the pieces before writing task (1 period)
- Introduction to Historical Fiction
- Historical Fiction Writing Assignment (2 weeks)
- The Mysteries of Harris Burdick-Write a story based on one of these famous illustrations-6 to 7 periods.
- The Mysteries of Harris Burdick – Short story write – 5 periods
- Advice on writing horror stories
- End of Year Poem-a fun way to reflect on the year in grade 5. (2 to 3 periods)
- Classword-End of year-make a crossword about your class. (1 period)-Fun to compile all the crosswords, copy and bind into books for the kids to take away. A nice momento.
- Mystery Postcard (2-3 periods) Write a postcard and put clues into it so people can work out where you are.
